Some known facts about Kamui:

1. In his worldview, he respects strength and strength alone.
2. He finds Kagura weak and beneath his notice.
3. His only desire is to find the strongest opponents and to fight them.
4. He couldn’t give two shits about whether Kagura is dead or alive.

So when I go on Pixiv and like 90% of the artists put him in this protective older brother role, the mind boggles, and I’m like, wat, why would you do that?

Yeah, pretty much this. Things were different when they were little but since then his Yato blood took over fully while Kagura has been fighting hers off.

Maybe if Kagura died he would dignify that with some sort of reaction, but a doting older brother he is not.

I guess wishful thinking is at play here.
